For too long has humanity been collectively submerged into this hyper-consumption of the arts. We, our parents and our grandparents have been getting bombarded by some or the other form of artificial dopamine sweets - from videos to reels to xeets to "news" to ads to tunes to mainstream media - every second of the day, every single day. The kind of media consumption we have every day is something our forefathers would have been overwhelmed by within an hour. It is not natural.
This complete cheapening of the arts is finally giving us a chance to shed off this load for good.
"Due process" did its job perfectly as it should have in the author's case. But exoneration still didn't save his life from falling apart. It's not a legal or policy issue, it is a culture issue.
The OP article goes into great lengths giving a first-hand account of what kind of catastrophic damage a mere bad-faith nefarious accusation can cause, no matter how "obvious" its falsehood may be or how little credence it would hold in court.
Did you just jump into comments without reading the article in the post?
Why can they not just use America's banking infrastructure directly instead of using America's banking infrastructure indirectly through meaningless overengineered abstractions like stablecoins?
I am not an expert but I don’t believe most countries would allow their citizens to use American banking infrastructure, nor would most American banks accept a foreign account. Stablecoins get around these limitations, while also providing lower fees and higher availability.
How do they open the bank account? Looks like a foreigner opening a bank account in the US would need proof that they have a US address. (Or at least, the major banks I checked did.)
Sad thing as that the good times are very likely never coming back, and the far-right in power will only make everything worse by bolstering even more tribalism and mistrust among the public.
I appreciate your sentiment, and agree to a point. There’s a time and a place for both disposable email addresses as well as blocking apis.
Assume you offer a free trial with LLM capabilities. There’s a very real cost associated with multiple signup abuse. You can card capture or KYC, but now there’s more friction and greater loss of privacy.
