Rested | San Francisco, CA or REMOTE | Senior Backend Engineer, Founding Team

Rested is the digital health startup for sleep, and is working on a tech-driven solution to give people a better night’s sleep. As the first senior engineering hire on the team, you will have a critical role in the founding team with early-stage equity.

You’ll have the opportunity to design and implement the technical infrastructure for the backend systems powering the Rested experience. You’ll also be leading the team in implementing best practices for security, reliability and performance. In the future, you’ll also have potential opportunities to direct and conduct research to define and build analytics infrastructures centered around patient data.

What many are missing is that they transitioned from a consumer company to an infrastructure company. Their location database (and API) was just announced by Twitter as the backing for all location handling in tweets. That's a big freaking deal, especially given they already do that for Facebook.

If you read the FS CEO's comments about the Twitter thing, you'll notice he mentions they have basically focused on what their main value prop is: solving the difficult problem of accurate and quality locations.

The consumer apps are just something they "still do" but I certainly don't think they consider it their primary business model anymore.

Down for me... :/

Down for me too. I'm guessing due to load. It's also reported as being down based on an https checker [1], but I don't know if it would correctly handle http2 so this may always give a false positive.
