What where you guys working on before this and how did this idea start from?

Curious on how many spots are going to be available and are any spots reserved for students?

We planned for 500 but we may have to increase that. None are reserved for any specific group, but we like students.

Sounds really interesting. I'm curious: how useful is the event likely to be if I already work at a (larger) startup? Is it mainly targeted at those who want to found new startups?

I like the sound of that. And here I was thinking that being a student would be a disadvantage.

This looks awesome. This reminds me a little bit like the facebook application I use to play with before. http://www.facebook.com/graffitiwall

Except this one is more real time, but I would love a replay feature to show what people have been drawing before me.

These videos are also amazing from Bloomberg. http://www.bloomberg.com/tv/shows/game-changers/

This looks awesome, I have been using this for a while now http://jsonviewer.stack.hu/

nice. i did not end up finding that one last night.

In these types games how do you check to see if a word a user typed is a 'real' word?

There is dictionary it probably checks against. In example: http://www.calvin.edu/~rpruim/scrabble/ospd3.txt

I just found out about jekyll too, very interesting. If anybody else is curious https://github.com/mojombo/jekyll/wiki

I think about what I am going to make, then if one week later that idea or project came to mind again. I start sketching a basic implementation of it.

How did you get started on building the actual product? Did you find a technical co-founder?

Yeah! I'll write a more in depth blog post about this, but the summary is that I learned to code well enough to build a rudimentary prototype. Then I met my cofounder Scott at a Hackers and Founders meetup, showed him the prototype, and, after a few meetings, he liked the idea enough to cofound this startup with me. Some time later we applied to YC and the rest is history.
