BTW, I suspect there is a new (to me) type of scum in US. Nonames are trying to 'collect' debts pretending to have some rights. They get fresh info on possible targets on black market.

How? By sending letters? By coming to your door?


By tricking people into affirming a paid off, non-existent or expired debt and then attempting to collect it.


Going to court, probably, if it's enforceable. Otherwise only online/offline harassment.


they don't need to get them off the black market; banks, credit card companies, etc. will sell the debt and info to debt collectors, openly.

no need to fire up tor, you can buy this info for reasonably cheap. presumably someone hacked it and tossed it on Dread or something?


Definitely not new.


And it even works against corporations, sometimes.
