Dwarf Fortress really lends itself to creating narratives. From the DF dev log:

I visited a tomb today as the adventurer Cadem Renownletter to see how well the game retains the position of skeletons and treasures as I move them around. During the process, a mummy boxed me in the ribs, broke my finger, bit my hand and shook it around until the hand came off. The mummy then animated the hand and they both attacked me. The hand scored the killing scratch, earning the name "Drippedsieged, Cadem Renownletter's left hand" and earning the tomb an additional defender against further testing. Its middle finger is still broken.

#1 Lesson from all of this: Instead of talking about your product to your prospect, talk about something your prospect cares deeply about to your prospect.

I had no idea what you did and didn't really care until you used it in context of something I did care about: Hacker News. Now I know what you do, understand how it applies to me, and best of all, I'm starting to visualize how else I could use it.

We should all approach our prospects like you just did here. Nice job!

While I was in university, I suffered (not knowingly at the time) from pretty bad depression. I basically was extremely self-destructive, and at 19 was experimenting with various drugs. My roommate's girlfriend stole a half used bottle of ketamine from a veterinary clinic she worked at. They dried the liquid into powder form in the microwave, and we all used it by snorting it. (as I said, I was hell bent on self destruction)

Obviously, whatever dose we obtained would be far, far beyond a clinical amount. I immediately sank into what is called a "k-hole" and had what is often described as an "out of body" sensation. I was 5 years old again, walking along the beach in winter, looking through my father's binoculars at the humpback whales. A feeling of peace and calm came to me, and some amount of time later (perhaps an hour) I awoke from the "k-hole."

The sense of peace I felt remained. I wasn't intoxicated, nor did I feel any other effects. I just felt like I had before my girlfriend had died two years before.

That was the last time I touched a drug other than alcohol or marijuana.

Wow, so by example I should file this patent:

Method and Apparatus for Making Lots of Money

1. File an over broad patent by (a) describing an everyday procedure currently commonly preformed by humans and (b) adding "performed by a computer" to your claim. Alternatively, purchase a similar over broad patent from someone else.

2. Identify companies which utilize procedures which may fall under your patent.

3. Identify other companies that may utilize procedures slightly (or even barely) resembling those covered by your patent.

4. Determine prevailing legal fees for a patent defense case in the given area for each of the companies identified in steps 2 and 3.

5. Call all of those companies identified in steps 2 and 3 and threaten to sue them unless they settle for the sum of 80% of the prevailing legal fees identified in step 4.

6. Preform steps 1 through 5 using a computer.
